Privacy

Seneca Libraries respects the privacy of its patrons and make every effort to protect their confidentiality.

  • Staff will only collect the minimum amount of personal information necessary to provide effective service.
  • Staff may share details of the questions with other library staff members for consultation when necessary to provide patrons with the best possible response.
  • Staff will not request personal information of the visitors such as phone number, home address, financial information or passwords. They may however ask for a student name and/or number to provide service.
  • Patron transcripts will be stored anonymously on Springshare servers.
  • Patron transcripts and evaluations are stored for the purpose of compiling statistics about chat usage and to improve the service. We aim to provide the best user satisfaction possible.
  • Any personal information which may appear in the transcript will be kept confidential and will not be disclosed to any other party outside of Seneca Academic Services, except where required by law or for the safety of the patron.

Inclusivity

Seneca Libraries is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment. Students may use their method of communication most accessible to them including chat, email, video call, phone and in-person when available for library support.
